Situated in northern Switzerland, Zurich (originally called Turicum) is a world renowned centre of finance and banking. The Swiss Stock Exchange was established here in 1877 and many well known financial services companies are head quartered here including Swiss Re, UBS and Credit Suisse. Todays city of over 400,000 has vastly expanded from the original medieval settlement centred along both banks of the River Limmat, although the old town area of central Alstadt still reflects this early history. The historic centre of Lindenhof makes a great starting point for one of our foot based Treasure Hunts takes in historical landmarks such as the Grossmunster and Predigerkirche, as well as places like the Swiss National Museum located on the Platzpitz Park opposite the Hauptbahnhof.
